John Collier
Age 51
I was born in Detroit and now  live in Royal Oak. Sports
background: Former baseball player. Always an athlete in my
mind but not always in practice until I read an article about this
thing called Bootcamp? I investigated and immediately was
hooked. That was 12 years ago. Bootcamp was the stepping
stone to being an athlete in mind and body. Bootcamp not only
got me into shape it also exposed me to the following: I have run
through swamps, mud, jumped off bridges into freezing cold
water, contacted poison ivy, and not the least of which, I turned a
6 mile leg of DWD into a half marathon(seriously I got lost). That's me. Look forward to
training with you all except Matt.

Gretchen Hartwig
39 years old
I am a mother to four very active and wonderful children who
keep me busy and on the go! Additionally, I have run my own
in-home daycare business for 17 years and absolutely love
my job! I have a staff of 3 and a clientele of 16 under the age of
5.  I grew up and still live in Birmingham and have always
been very involved in sports. I started playing soccer when I
was 6 and continued through college. I always loved running
and challenging myself with new workouts. With that being
said I decided to try an early morning boxing class (which I
had never done before) and 2 years later I am still boxing and
loving bootcamp! I have been inspired to try and complete a
variety of races but I am most excited to have just completed
my first half marathon. I definitely look forward to seeing what
else I can accomplish!

Kari Paik
Age 39
Artist/ painter/ proud mother of 3 boys.  I thought I had been staying consistently active. I did
my 5k's, 10k's, running, biking and of course the latest exercise video.  I was always on the
lookout for the "thing" that would give me enough energy, physical and mental, for  said
children.  A dear friend suggested/coerced me, with a chuckle, to try Motor City Bootcamp.  I
survived and have pushed myself, or been pushed, harder and farther in the last year than I
thought possible.  I have been sore for a year and am really digging it!  Items have gone from
my "bucket list" to reality in a short time and I welcome the opportunity to take it even farther.

Team WPE is a group of hand picked athletes, from various fitness backgrounds, who
compete in a wide array of local, national and international races. We have teams competing
in Triathlons, Mountain Bike races, Adventure Races, Trail Runs, on and off road Du's and any
other type of event that we find interesting, extreme and unique. We race because we love it,
we race because we believe in an active lifestyle and we race because, no matter what
anyone else says, there's no better feeling than doing something that others are afraid to do. A
big part of our racing is to help get the word out about causes we believe in. The more events
we can compete in, the more effective we are at doing that.
