YOU GET WHAT YOU
EARN!
With all the talk and all the stories
about how tough the times are
here in Michigan, it amazes me to
see how so many people choose
to take while offering nothing back,
and do so under the guise of
"entitlement".
I was recently told of an employee
that QUIT her job, let's call her DD.
She quit in front of several
employees. After leaving the office
and placing a phone call to her
husband (who's been on disability
for 6 years but still manages to do
carpentry work under the table) she
returned to the office and stated
that she was not in fact quitting and
that they would have to "drag her
out because she's not going to
mess up her unemployment
chances". After being informed that
she could not "un-quit", she
proceeded to file for unemployment.
Once the office received the
paperwork, claiming DD was fired,
the owner protested and even
provided signed statements from
other employees that were present
when she quit. She was still
granted unemployment! It amazes
me that, with so many people in
this state that actually need it,
these cases are not more closely
investigated. This is someone who
was looking for a reason to be fired
because she was more willing to
sit on her ass and get paid for
doing nothing, like her husband,
than she was in putting in an
honest days work for an honest
days pay - because she felt she
was "entitled to it", due to the fact
that employers already pay into
unemployment.
This attitude, more than anything
else, is a huge reason why this
state is the way that it is. There are
too many people that feel that
they're entitled to something
without having to go out and earn it.
So now, there are two people
sitting on their asses getting paid
to do absolutely nothing. Their bills
are paid by us, you and me, while
other people that need it may
actually get denied.
Until something changes with our
work ethic and people start to
speak up about these incidents, it
will continue this way. I know that I,
for one, will make a it a point to
teach me son never take anything
that he's not earned. If only
everyone else had that same
philosophy, our state may not be
where it's at.

Name: Mike Rosenau Age: 42 Hometown: Birmingham
When did you become involved in athletics? Longer back than I can remember. As a kid, I played sports until there wasn’t a minute of daylight left. I haven’t stopped, although my sports of choice have.
What motivates you to workout? The two hours after a great workout where your heart is pumping and you feel like you did something to make your life last longer.
What is your training schedule (What activities do you do, how often, and what days of the week)? MCB every weekday I can, although my travel schedule won’t allow it. If not, I get to a hotel gym and a local gym on the weekends.
How did you get started in Motorcity Bootcamp? I was hitting a workout wall at the gym and I needed a new push that didn’t involve weight benches and treadmills. Some friends were talking about this unique program that utilized common outdoor objects to workout and I was intrigued. That was two years ago and I haven’t even approached a new wall yet.
What athletic achievement are you the most proud of? I held the MHSAA record in track for the indoor 55 meters…for all of about 5 minutes until it was broken in the next heat.
What was the most challenging athletic experience you’ve been involved in? Getting home from a flight at 1am and making it to 5: 30 bootcamp. But my real challenges are ahead of me
What is your favorite sport/activity to be involved in? Any group sport that involves a beer at the end.
Do you have a specific diet you follow? No, not really. I just pay attention to my calorie and fat intake…and work out a lot so that I can occasionally NOT pay attention to my calorie and fat intake
What is your favorite food? Pizza. Isn’t it everyone’s?
What is your favorite food (indulgence)? The entire pizza
What is your favorite piece of exercise gear that you own? Several pair of Nike Free shoes.
Must-Haves in your gym bag? My iPod and the best socks I can buy.
