What the Hell is a Bump & Run?
The summer of 2007 brought with it our first (and long awaited) Muddy Watters, Bump & Run Trail
Series. The series was set up to bring something unique to the sport of trail running while also
benefiting local causes.
The runs were a combination trail, river, mud run with a ton of bootcamp exercises thrown in for good
measure. The first to complete the course while finishing all exercise stops would be the winner.
We not only managed to beat the hell out of our racers but were also able to raise some funds for
causes such as The Greater Michigan Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, The Judson Center and
Volunteers of America. Not only that, but we also picked up a ton of both local and national level media
attention for our efforts. I guess we weren't the only ones who found it unique. One of the editors at Trail Runner Magazine referred
to our race as "the nastiest 5K race I've ever heard of ". That was music to my ears...

Muddy Watters Relay
New last year, was our Muddy Watters Relay.. Still a "bump & run"
race, the relay will consist of two person teams (male/male,male/
female, female/female) with each team member running a leg
while your partner gets to relax. You'll be required to complete
exercise stations together, at the race start and in between legs.
Awards will be given three deep in each division. Total race
distance will be roughly 6 miles, though you won't know which of
you will be getting the bulk of the distance. Does that surprise
anyone though? We've taken great measures to make sure those
of you running the shorter distance will NOT feel cheated. You can be sure that you'll be the one getting the most "interesting"
terrain to traverse. Anything to keep our racers happy...
Following Each Race...
As always, we'll be having our kids event to follow our "big kids" race. No charge, parents don't even have to be racers! Short and
fun. All kids will get a prize or some sort of swag. But you have to let us know that your kids will be participating.
