It's time to start thinking about your  "off
season" training program. Michigan has so
much to offer in terms of trails, parks and the
great outdoors.  We've taken advantage of
Metro-Detroit's best parks and put together a
program that will challenge your physical
abilities, satisfy your senses and keep you
warm at the same time.

Whether you're planning to take on some
duathlons, triathlons, adventure racing or any
other type of competitive sport next year, these
outdoor, intense workouts are the perfect fit.
Classes start at 8:30 a.m. and last anywhere
from ninety minutes to two hours, depending
on the activities.

Classes start at 8:30 a.m.  Since we move
around the park, be on time or risk getting left
behind.  With the cooler weather, we'll be
using
Stone Shelter fireplace at Bloomer as
our January meeting place. Check back often
as locations may change.

Classes this session will continue to include
some strength training in the main stone
pavilion.  The stairs, hills and trails will also
be used.  We may add additional activities like
biking, but participants will be notified of any
equipment they might need prior to class.

AS will meet twice each month. We'll meet at
Bloomer for the first session and use
Hart
Plaza as the meeting spot for our second
monthly session. Plan to use the entire river
front area for our Detroit session. Check
events page for dates.

Bloomer Park: Perfect Training Ground No Matter What
the Season
Our warm fall weather is just about gone and, believe it or
not, Bloomer's cooling rivers and colorful trees will give
way to snow covered trails and frozen ponds.

Just in time to make life in the great outdoors interesting!
We'll keep you warm with a big bonfire while you're out
getting your a$$ kicked in knee deep snow. Look at it this
way though - if you're doing it, someone else isn't. Maybe
that someone else is a person you'll be racing against
next season. All the better for you. These workouts pay off!
Pay attention to the ever changing schedule and get off
your bum for a couple hours of heart pounding fun in a
winter wonderland! What better way to start a weekend...

WPE clients carry a picnic table through the snow
across the park for some strength work and team work
buildingduring an Adventure Satruday class this winter.
Don't try using "the stairs are
covered with snow and ice," as
an excuse to get out of stair
work.  Adventure Saturday
clients conquer the 170-step
ascent at Bloomer Park.
NEW FORMAT FOR A
NEW YEAR
Starting in January of 2008,
Adventure Saturday will become
a
GLTeams.com function. Same
great workout with the same
faces, throw in some sport
specific work by Adventure
Racer Caleb Mitchell, with our
already brutal training program,
and I think we've got a winner!
ROTATING LOCATIONS
In 2008, we'll be utilizing two
different locations for Adventure
Saturday. In addition to our
continued use of Bloomer Park,
we'll be using
Hart Plaza in
Downtown Detroit as the other
meeting spot. AS will be
meeting twice montlhy, once at
each location. There will be
additional activities and
workouts planned that we'll
make known prior to that week.
