Team Up to Give Back
Nobody can do everything; but everybody can do
something with our year-long fund raiser to benefit
the Karmanos Cancer Institute
Detroit is consistently at the top when it comes to donating to charitable causes.  This is evident in
so many of my clients who participate in charity sporting events, volunteer their time and donate
money to good causes.  Charity is also something that is important to me as an individual and a
business owner.

So when I read the
101 Things Every Detroiter Must Do article in Hour Detroit, I thought, why not
bring charity to every one of the experiences covered in Hour’s article – earning the right to tout
myself and my program as Detroiters and feel good at the same time.

That's how it all started.  Now
Motor City Bootcamp is on a year-long quest to accomplish all 101
items in Hour’s article, but add charity to every one of them.  We’ll take pledges and raise money
through cooperative events wherever we can.

All the proceeds from our events will be donated to the Karmanos Cancer Institute, an
organization started right here in Detroit – by the co-founder of one of Detroit’s largest employers,
Peter Karmanos Jr., CEO of Compuware.

How It Works
Motor City Bootcampers will take pledges from family, friends, co-workers, or even strangers.
They can take pledges for either a single dollar amount or an amount for each of the activities they
complete.

Along the way, we'll also be partnering with several of the companies and events to raise extra
money as we check off items on the list.

Of course this is all about giving back, so if you're not a member of Motor City Bootcamp, but you'd
like to participate, we're offering this special:  Every time a non-member attends an event and
raises $50, they will receive one free week of bootcamp classes.  That means all you have to do
is  attend 8 events and raise $400 to get an entire session of Motor City Bootcamp classes.

Current bootcampers can benefit as well. If you're already a member and raise $200, you get a
WEEK free. Raise $500, you get a SESSION free. Raise $1,500, you get SIX MONTHS free. And, if
you raise $5,000, you'll get ONE YEAR free.

It was a long year but well worth all the work and time put in to accomplish everything on the list.
We were able to participate in some great things and meet some fantastic people while doing
everything from shooting free throws at a Piston's game to working at Avalon Bakery for a day. Now
the work REALLY begins.

We will take our list and use it to obtain donations from individuals and business from all around.
We want to demonstrate that our effort to put in the time to knock off everything on the list of 101
tasks may have been difficult, but far from the effort that many who struggle through the battle with
cancer must put forth. We took one year to complete the list, now 2007 is the year that we'll use to
show  that every task, no matter how intimidating it may seem, can be accomplished through
perseverance and hard work. This is the message we'll use to help convince donors that what
we've done deserves their attention, on our way to reaching our goal of $50,000 raised.

We're putting in the leg work to help get the word out there, help us make sure that our efforts don't
go unnoticed and donate to the cause today!
